Missouri Firefighters Free Dog and Victim After Vehicle Crashes into Home

After a vehicle lost control and crashed into a home in Oakville, Missouri, first responders arrived on scene to find it partially sticking out of the house. Upon taking a further look, they realized the vehicle was resting on a recliner inside with the homeowner’s dog trapped by the back of the wheel. The driver was also pinned inside.

Mehlville Fire Protection District used their newly granted extrication tools to swiftly free the driver and the dog, both sustaining only minor injuries.

“The new equipment made a huge difference in the crews’ ability to quickly free both victims due to the tools’ lighter weight and portability.”
– Assistant Chief Daniel LaFata, Mehville Fire Protection District
