Rescue Resources Make a Difference in Kansas
Weeks after receiving a new set of vehicle extrication equipment, Kansas’ Valley Center Fire Department firefighters were called to the scene of an accident. A truck was wedged against a tree with the driver’s legs pinned under the dashboard.
Working alongside neighboring departments, Valley Center Fire Department put their new extrication spreader and cutter to use. In less than an hour, firefighters were able to use a variety of equipment to safely and efficiently extricate the patient from the vehicle.
“This incident scene would not have gone as well as it did if would not have been for the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The grant money not only replaced outdated equipment, it supplied the Valley Center Fire Department with much-needed life safety equipment that we would not have been able to supply on our own. This would have not been possible had it not been for all of you that support this great cause.” – Lt. Josh Tormey, Valley Center Fire Department
