Serving Subs & Saving Lives in Tennessee

Mount Juliet, TN

After Mt. Juliet Fire Department’s hazardous materials monitoring equipment began to fail, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation provided four new hazmat detection units to the department to replace the aging equipment. The addition of this equipment ensured that all front-line fire engines were supplied with detectors.

Following the procurement of the new detectors, a woman called the department for help. Her heart was racing, and she was unable to stop vomiting. First responders deployed their gas monitor, which showed dangerous levels of carbon monoxide (CO) in the air. The woman and her daughter were quickly rescued from the home, saving both their lives, and keeping more than a dozen first responders from being exposed to the dangerous gas.

THIS GRANT WAS MADE POSSIBLE BY A PORTION OF EVERY PURCHASE DONATED BY FIREHOUSE SUBS.

Granted Tools Used:
Gas Monitor: Provides continuous monitoring of oxygen (O2), combustibles and toxic gases, including hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and hydrogen cyanide (HCN), for workers and first responders in hazardous environments.
