Godfrey, IL
In November 2023, Godfrey Fire Protection District in Illinois received a call of an accident where a car had rolled and landed on its side on a nearby embankment. The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle and in critical condition. Due to the steep slope of the embankment, the vehicle had to be stabilized before extrication could occur. Thanks to equipment awarded by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, stabilization struts were on hand and placed on the vehicle. Firefighters were then able to quickly extricate the patient and transfer him to an awaiting helicopter. The patient was transported to a nearby trauma center and survived the incident.
“The outcome could have been much different had we not received this invaluable equipment from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. We are grateful to have this equipment for years to come.”
– Eric Cranmer, Fire Chief, Godfrey Fire Protection District
