Jefferson County Fire District #1 in Beaumont, Texas was awarded an automated chest compression device, a much-needed piece of equipment considering the far distance to the hospital. The device is used to deliver contactless chest compressions to cardiac arrest patients at a constant rate and depth, improving survival rates and reducing first responder fatigue. Two weeks after the device was put into service, it was used to save a man’s life. After regaining a pulse, the patient was transported to the hospital where he made a full recovery.
“I wanted to share this story with you and your organization because your contributions really do save lives. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity not only to my department, but other departments across the nation.”
– Fire Chief Chris Gonzales, Jefferson County E.S.D. #1
