DONATION DESCRIPTION
Trussville Fire and Rescue received a utility-terrain vehicle (UTV) worth $14,967. The awarded UTV will allow first responders to provide lifesaving assistance in areas impassable by traditional emergency vehicles, such as during off-road search and rescue missions and weather emergencies.
Tarrant Fire and Rescue received new gas-powered hydraulic rescue tools and accessories worth $19,979. The awarded equipment will improve the department’s rescue capabilities for victims in motor vehicle accidents, allowing individuals experiencing trauma emergencies to receive medical attention quickly.
Center Point Fire District, Irondale Fire Department and Homewood Fire and Rescue also received extrication equipment worth a total of $82,409. Their awarded extrication equipment is not gas-powered, therefore more lightweight and quiet, improving the department’s response time and communication abilities with victims trapped under vehicular or structural debris.
ABOUT FIREHOUSE SUBS PUBLIC SAFETY FOUNDATION
In 2005, Firehouse Subs created the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, lifesaving equipment, and educational opportunities to first-responders and public safety organizations. Through the non-profit 501(c)(3), Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has given more than $17 million to hometown heroes in 44 states and Puerto Rico, including more than $1 million in Alabama.
IN-RESTAURANT FUNDRAISING INITIATIVES
Each restaurant recycles leftover, five-gallon pickle buckets, available to guests for a $2 donation to the Foundation. Donation canisters on register counters explain the non-profit’s mission and collect spare change, while the Round Up Program allows guests to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar. All funds raised benefit the Foundation.
