DONATION DESCRIPTION
Englewood Area Fire Control District received a fire training system worth $15,840. The equipment combines digital flames, sound and smoke to create a range of fire conditions that will allow firefighters to train more proficiently.
North Port Police Department received a police service dog (K9) worth $8,000. The awarded K9 will allow the department’s current eight-year-old patrol dog, Duke, to retire. The new dog will serve the community by locating dangerous narcotics, tracking and locating missing children, elderly and criminal suspects, conducting article searches and performing demonstrations to help build a strong bond between law enforcement and the community.
Cape Coral Fire Department received an inflatable fire safety house worth $13,480. The department will use the inflatable house to educate 4th grade students on fire prevention, providing an enhanced learning experience that is both unique and impressionable.
ABOUT FIREHOUSE SUBS PUBLIC SAFETY FOUNDATION
In 2005, Firehouse Subs created the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, lifesaving equipment, and educational opportunities to first-responders and public safety organizations. Through the non-profit 501(c)(3), Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has given more than $17 million to hometown heroes in 44 states and Puerto Rico, including more than $3.1 million in Florida.
IN-RESTAURANT FUNDRAISING INITIATIVES
Each restaurant recycles leftover, five-gallon pickle buckets, available to guests for a $2 donation to the Foundation. Donation canisters on register counters explain the non-profit’s mission and collect spare change, while the Round Up Program allows guests to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar. All funds raised benefit the Foundation.
